Sunday June 21 - Drive around the south lake of the Dead Sea
Since the scoring went all so well, and I was done fairly early, I went back to the hotel with Achim Keuffner, Flight Line Director. I needed to go for fuel, and the pump was aliitle south of the resort. After filling the car, we continued to go south, it was nice weather, and shall we not forget, this is also supposed to be holiday...

A little south, we found an area where the salty sea water is evaporated to dig up the salt. This looks very weird. The soil is mixed with salt, and next to the 'road' ( does anyone know how "no trespassing" is spelled in Hebrew?) many little puddles, loaded with salt. Basicly, this area the 'coastline' is changing due to the salt harvest.

Furter down the road, we found some large industrial earea, several large factories for salt, but also other minerals, and a magnesium factory. Funny to see large white mountains, while close to 40 degrees outside, even more interesting is to see a red mountain as well.

We continued onwards, and the idea started to grow to drive up to Jordan. We overlook jordan, it's just on the other side of the lake, can even swim/float to it...
We ended up in a small village at the south-east end of the Dead Sea. A lot of plntation in this area, we could only not figure out what it is they grow here. It must be something that can really withstand salty conditions. Since the trip was not going fast, many photo stops, it was already starting to get dark when we drove home. We had to hurry, at 20.30 we where to go to the venue for nations night. We made it to the hotel by 20.20...
